The hobbit was the first fantasy book I ever read and it really inspired me to think of fantasy worlds and the imagination as a creative tool.

The hobbit for me was a book that was easy to read even more so than the lord of the rings I later went on to read, it also was the book that started all of the rings journeys and it gave a good high quality back story to an epic trilogy later on, it introduced us to worlds and fantasy genres that we now know and love today.

Elves and orcs and other creatures such as trolls are a real awe inspiring imaginative concept, especially for an artist trying to gain enough material to be inspired and draw stuff of your own.

I like this book alot, and always have fond memories of reading this book on rainy days when there was nothing else to do, also the descriptions and detail that Tolkien writes about, conjured up an even better image of what you usually imagine when reading any types of novels.
