Witness is a film which works on multiple levels: suspenseful cop thriller; passionate love story; and thought provoking commentary on the clash of secular and ultra religious views, and the bigotry of the latter given by the former.

Peter Weir’s Gallipoli is Australia’s quintessential war movie, which works as both a stirring tribute to the Anzacs and as a condemnation of the travesty which is war.
The film is set in Western Australia, 1915, where two rival athletes (Mark Lee and Mel Gibson) form a strong bond whilst travelling to Perth in order to join the Australian Army in the battle against Turkish forces in Gallipoli.

"Closer" is one of the best movies I've ever seen so far. The powerful cast includes Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owens. The main theme of the movie is love and ironically enough infidelity and betrayal.

The film is set in Georgetown where the 12 year old daughter of a popular Hollywood actress (Ellen Burstyn) begins to exhibit extremely bizarre and dangerous behaviour. After numerous psychological and medical examinations come up with no explanation of what is the cause of her condition, a Jesuit priest (Jason Miller) who is going through a crisis of faith must determine if the child is in fact possessed and requires an exorcism.

A hidden gem amongst the treasure which is Martin Scorsese’s filmography, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore is a charming film made on the cusp of the woman’s movement, and despite it being a pro-feminist picture it does not come off as an aggressive diatribe against all men.

Abel Ferrara’s Bad Lieutenant is a shocking, confronting, and highly controversial hard hitting drama.
It stars Harvey Keitel as a New York City Police Lieutenant who is corrupted in every which way. He is a hard drug user who abuses crack and heroin and snorts cocaine at any given opportunity. He steals narcotics from crime scenes and sells it on the street for profit. And he is quickly mounting an overwhelming debt based on bets lost on the World Series between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
