One of the aspects of the ‘Jam Band’ music scene that is very appealing is the different musical styles that can be found in one packaged festival. Someone attending a Jam Band festival will be exposed to many musical styles to include Salsa, Classic Rock, Funk, Rap, Blues and Jazz. The term Jam Band is not a musical genre; it means to improvise.

I watched Once with my girlfriend and some of her friends a few weeks back. Sitting down to watch this movie I had a sudden image of myself in the near future with my head conked backwards against the wall with a steady stream of drool pouring from my lips and a room of angry girls pointing their fingers at me for not appreciating another one of their boring love movies. The hook of this movie was the fact that one of the two main characters is Glen Hansard, lead singer of The Frames which I happen to enjoy, and I figured that if he were involved with the music, at least the movie would have that for me. Well it turns out that the movie was quite excellent, and the accompanying music is beautifully written and simple.

Overall, Nas delivers his usual supreme lyrical prowess on all 16 tracks. With the exception of the title track, "Hip Hop is Dead and the Jay Z colabo "Black Republicans" my problem is with his production.
