Review:

If you're looking for the type of horror that settles under your skin slowly--then see this movie! We get to see a group of excavators working in an abandoned mental asylum. Each worker has his own personal demons, which are touched on sufficiently in the film. What draws viewers in, however –is the sick attachment to the place, that each of them develop over a period of time.

The suspense builds in intensity through the nuances of the film: the peeling paint, the hollow hallways, the eerie voices, and particularly, one characters slow descent into madness. In order to appreciate the full scope of the horror, you'll actually need to pay attention to the entire story. Session 9 is not without its share of gore. But the gore pales in comparison to the scares that are delivered through the intensity of human emotion. This is definitely the “thinking person’s horror film.
