Using the radio broadcast networks they owned to promote their record companies artists was similar to an automaker owning car dealerships, it eliminated opportunities to record and distribute music by singers and musicians who were not owned by the corporations. In the mid-1950's record producer Sam Phillips was recording and promoting Elvis Presley by having him play small country fairs arond the South, creating requests by his new fans to their local radio stations to play his early recordings on the Sun Records label.
Two Decades later Elvis The Great Performances were performed in Las Vegas and filmed for this DVD Boxed Set.
