Zombieland, was highly overrated
The new Zombie Movie / Zombie Comedy received a huge hype and overall rating score from Critiques, but in my opinion it was highly overrated.
When the DVD Zombieland released in the Stores across the Nation, you were hard pressed to get a copy. It looked as if they were literally flying of the shelves. Ratings on yahoo and other Movie Rating Systems had this Zombie / Horror Spoof set at an A- / B Rating. For all apparent reasons this Movie appeared like a great hit and promised 88 minutes of delightful shivers, fun and more.
With great anticipation with rented the Movie from Netflix and settled down with a bowl of popcorn, prepared to be amused and entertained. What we received however was a long drug out story, with the occasional laugh and a couple of zombie scenes.
Zombieland starting Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Abigail Breslin, has all in all a good cast. Woody presented his character in his usual for him Redneck / Country Boy sort of charm. Emma Stone was her usual knockout beauty, which alone would make it worth it for men to sit through the performance.
The acting in itself ranged from mediocre to decent, but in my humble opinion does not deserve any sort of Awards anytime soon. But then you can not fault the Actors and Actresses for a dragging storyline.
The Movie was originally written to be a pilot series on TV, and after being rejected was turned into a full length Movie. Considering that a lot of filler had to be added to make it into a Movie, you could not really expect too much.
One of the funnier scenes, even if the scene ending was predictable, was in the house of Bill Murray, who had disguised himself as a Zombie. Some laughs were definitely within this scene. I won’t spoil the outcome if you haven’t seen it. Let’s just say, the reaction was to be expected.
Woody Harrison’s Character’s obsession and hunt for his favorite snack food, gave this Movie a build in laugh line.
I would give the movie an overall Rating of a C-. It is great for a rental, but I for one am not going to watch it more then once.
