The Red Baron Movie Review . TurtleDog Reviews The Red Baron Film
The film, The Red Baron, is of course a movie based on the World War One Pilot of the same nickname.
I was hoping this movie would be more gritty and extol the unromantic brutality of war. I suppose I'm still hoping for another All Quiet on the Western Front but I suspect that is a little too much to ask for in one lifetime.
This movie comes close at times to making the audience feel the pain of war but never seriously challenges us to do so. The film depicts WWI pilots as being wealthy and pampered. Merely taking to the sky as a 'sport'. There is no post battle trauma, remorse, homesickness or fear in the eyes of this movie.
This film has more of a feeling of a romantic, patriotic film, albeit one where Germany clearly loses, but romantic and patriotic nonetheless.
