Movie Review: The Last House On the Left, one of the greatest revenge movies of all time!
The story starts out with a young woman, anywhere from 18-20 years of age practicing her swimming times. She and her parents, both loving an caring people, rent a house in a secluded, wooded area. Everything seems to be going fine until the girl asks to go out with some friends. They end up meeting a guy in town that has stuff they want to smoke with him. The girl doesn’t really want to, but she tags along with her friend anyway. In his hotel room, a stupid move in the first place, they smoke and joke around until the guy’s father and friends return. They are not happy to see that his son brought strangers into the hotel room, when they are running from the law after having killed a police officer. Hooked yet? I’ll stop here with the plot development.
I am a person who likes seeing poetic justice on screen. I like seeing the bad guys get what they deserve. I am not a “turn the other cheek” type of moviegoer. When the bad guys end up at the parents house, they get what they had coming. Not only do they get punished, but they get it in style and with twisted creativity. Though it might be too much gore for some people, for others it is a cathartic experience of watching the family suffer and then seeing the criminals be punished by the hands of the parents. I give this movie 3.5 stars (out of 5). I recommend renting it through rebox, which you can reserve online at www.redbox.com with a credit card and then just pick it up at any convenient location, including grocery stores and gas stations. It usually rates at a dollar per day, much cheaper than the local video store rental place. You can also buy it for a fraction of the retail price on ebay.
