Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
My Third Read. This will be my 3rd time finishing this particular book in the series. A little quirk of mine when following a book series or movies based on these books. Whenever a new book or movie appears on the scene, I usually have the urge to reread the books. So, when I saw the advertisements for the 6th Harry Potter movie... Well, I just finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6) last night and will start on Deathly Hallows today.
A Passion for Harry Potter . I will admit that when the Harry Potter books first came out, I virtually ignored them. Why would I want to read children's fantasy, I thought ? It was simply a combination of boredom, a lack of new books of interest and a sale on the Harry Potter books in the local Popular bookstore that prompted me to buy the first 4 Harry Potter books. And by the time I finished the first book I was hooked. I not only bought the subsequent books but watch every Harry Potter movie.
Wishing For a Better End. Have you ever read a book, known the ending because you have read it before and wished that it would change somehow this time. Well, that's how I felt when reading Half-Blood Prince. Sacrifice and death may be a part of life and growing up, but it's hard not to grief when a favourite character dies. Or share in their anger at the injustices committed for the "greater good". And this is why I love this series. Because I care about what happens to the characters. That I wish for them all to have a wonderful life.
