Coraline at Home
Remember that lovely Neil Gaiman book, and the corresponding 3-D movie. Impressive and frightening on the big screen, the home version of the film is nearly as good. Of course, it's impossible to match the experience of the theater, but the DVD release holds its own. With the DVD comes four pairs of 3-D glasses, those wonderful magenta-and-teal ones, which hurt your brain far less than the plastic variety from the movie theater. Also, home viewers are given the option of 2-D and 3-D, so it's still possible to watch with a large group of people or with those that would rather not don the silly looking specs.
The story is charming, the animation magnificent, and the soundtrack eerie. This movie, while appropriate for children, is not for the young alone and can be enjoyed by anyone. It puts a new image with "fun for the whole family" because, just this once, it's true.
