Big Rig Movie Review
Big Rig is a 94 minute documentary movie. It is not rated. I viewed it on DVD.
Big Rig is an east to west coast cross country trip featuring various truckers, their feelings about life on the road and the hardships of trucking in general.
The real-life truckers the filmmakers feature are all very interesting with intriguing backgrounds and motivations for driving a truck. The downfall of this film is that is fails to exploit any of these stories. The second you start to bond with one character, the director moves to the next. I feel as though the filmmakers were trying to tell too many stories in too little time.
Another story worth telling, that was completely-utterly missed, was the actual operation of the big rig trucks. Most viewers never have and never will operate a big rig. Most views will never even sit inside one. More time could have been dedicated to the training of these drivers as well as the operational challenges and techniques truckers employ on the road.
I was glad I watched this movie. I just wish it had more depth. I felt the movie could have given more.
