Soul Mountain (my views) Gao Xinjian is the only novelist from China who has the honor of winning the Nobel Prize for Literature for his memorable novel ‘Soul Mountain’ which has set a new trail for the Chinese novel. It is an autobiographical social commentary that has significant place for the supernatural in its plot. It describes the self-imposed exile in Sichuan Province from where the author draws elements of the plot. Had he been in the central China, he would have definitely faced persecution but the seclusion provided him time enough to set out for his spiritual pilgrimage.

If you love Fantasy as much as I do, this is a must read book.

Paulo Coelho is a famed author, most noteably for his bestseller The Alchemist. Being a fan of The Alchemist I picked up The Devil and Miss Prym which discusses, through story, the topic of good versus evil.

From the very start of the book, Hold Tight will draw you in. Hold tight is about an adolecent boy, Adam, who lost his best friend to suicide. Since that time, Adam's behavior has become questionable, which has caused his some-what wealthy parents, Dr. Mike and Tia, to become increasingly concerned for his well being. As a result, Mike and Tia use a program to spy on their son, to try to find out what is going on.

A real page turner with twists and turns. The characters were realistic and you felt like you were sharing their emotions as they sought to survive in a modern day world where they were still considered the monsters.

As a Stephen King fan, I've been disappointed with his work recently. 'Cell' seemed to be just a long personal bitch about cell phones, which was not really what I was looking for. Cell phones (or mobiles, as we call them here in England) are awesome. I will have no man speak against them. However, Duma Key seemed to be a return to form. I loved it.

This was an interesting and compelling story about a boy’s fascination with a novel and the author who wrote it. Now, that sounds more than a little vague but I will tell you that the novel found by the boy was extremely rare… mostly because a shadowy figure has purchased or stolen every copy of every novel by the author to have known to exist – and destroyed it.

What happens after you die? There are so many theories and no way to prove any of them. One is just as plausible as the next. This book explores one of these many possibilities. When we meet our main character, 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already dead, the victim of a murder, and in heaven. She has to deal with no longer being a part of what was her life, and she is exploring the place in which she now resides – heaven.
